See-Saw

Taking the girls to the park is so much easier, and much more fun this year now that Kylie is two and Eve is one. Kylie can do everything on her own, so I don't have to follow her all over the playground equipment carrying a newborn baby. Well that's what makes it easier, what makes is more FUN is that the girls play together a lot. They are really turning into best friends which is so much fun to watch. The pictures above are the girls playing on a see-saw together. Kylie loved making it bounce which just made Eve giggle and giggle and giggle.

Welcome to my crib

So shortly after getting my new camera... -Yes, I know I'm way behind on blogging! I promise to put up Christmas pictures and maybe even blog about the new year and all. I promise to do all that, but later. For now I'm trying to keep these posts somewhat in order. Like I said, I'm way behind, by about a month or so.- ... Anyways, let me start over.

Shortly after getting my new camera, I realized I didn't have many, if any at all, pictures of Eve in her crib. Come to think of it, I'm not even sure if I have many pictures of Kylie in the crib. This could have been very regrettable since it's a very special crib. It's the very same one that I slept in as a baby, in Indiana. It was then used by my sister Rachel before making the trip over to France, where it was used by my sisters Stephanie and Kelly. The next person to use this crib was our Kylie in Kansas. And now it's being used by Evie in Missouri. I wonder who will use it next? Most likely it will NOT be a Marsh. Jason and I are pretty sure that our family is complete, but who knows? Our girls were BOTH big surprises. Oh and the crib is safe. We checked into all that. With older cribs, it's always wise to find out all the current safety regulations.

That was a long explanation just to say that I had fun taking pictures of my baby in my old crib:

There are so many toys in there because whenever Kylie wakes up, she throws ALL the toys from the toy box into Eve's crib. Eve loves the attention from he big sister, and Kylie loves to entertain. We have taken all the hard toys out of their room, to eliminate the chances of Eve getting bonked on the head by such a toy. We have also had to check the floor every night to make sure that there is nothing that could be harmful to Eve. If Kylie can get to it, it ends up in Eve's crib. Once Jason completely spaced out and left a wet diaper on the floor and I found it the next morning in Eve's bed. EW. Thank goodness it was all wrapped up and wasn't stinky, but needless to say I still washed all of Eve's bedding and all the stuffed animals and toys just to be safe. I'm so tired of diapers.

Kylie noticed that I was taking lots of pictures of her sister, so she told me: "I want in crib too mommy!" I love the expression on Eve's face when I put Kylie in bed with her.

I love that last picture. She has her usual crazy bedhead hair and those big eyes that constantly change color. On this day, they were a very dark brown. Today, her eyes are green. Yesterday they were gray. And everyday she stays beautiful.

Silent Night

I just went in to check on my little sleeping beauties. Just a quick look was all I needed and my heart melted like it does every time I watch them sleep. I don't know what it is about a sleeping child/baby, but it sure is precious. Plus, my girls are always sleeping in some new, funny position, so it adds a little comic relief to my life.
Tonight, I was taken by surprise as these sweet thoughts entered my mind. As I put them to bed a couple hours ago, I was very frustrated. Today was just rough. Kylie refused to nap. This resulted in many breakdowns and she was a complete bully to her sister. Eve must be going through a growth spurt because she ate a bottle almost every hour, and that's not counting all the solid food she gulfed down throughout the day as well. She was also quite fussy, maybe because her sister kept pushing her down and stealing her toys, or maybe it had to do with how hungry she was all day. Whatever the reason, I tried to cuddle her often to soothe her, but every time I held her, she found great enjoyment in pulling my ear to her mouth and squealing as loud and high-pitched as she could. By the time I put them down to sleep, I was emotionally exhausted. Jason didn't get home from work until after bed time, so that just added to my stress. He is such a calming presence {and a great helper too, I should add! He might be upset if he reads this and finds out I only called him a "presence"!}
It was just one of those days. This post was not intended to complain, I understand that every parent has days like these. It's not really that big of a deal. What IS a big deal, however, is how quickly all my "bad" feelings disappeared as soon as I saw their peaceful faces sleeping. I instantly thought how adorable Eve looks all sprawled out in her crib. I laughed at all the animals that were in her crib with her, since those are all "gifts" from her big sister. Kylie always fills Eve's crib up with toys, to the point where we had to take out most of the toys from their room for Eve's safety. I smiled when I saw that Kylie was still clutching her night time book. She had insisted that she keep it in bed with her after we read together. {I should have left it there for the picture, but I put it away before thinking of taking pictures.}
My sleeping babies just reminded me that tomorrow is a new day. A new day to make {better} memories. Yeah for having a great day tomorrow! {I just hope that Eve waits until morning to wake me up. She likes to wake up in the middle of the night to "play", but that's a different story.}

Same expression...

...but very different faces. I can't figure out if this is their serious, bored or annoyed with the camera look. Oh well, at least they are cute.

Kylie is 9 months in her picture, while Eve is 4 months in hers.
